I once counseled a friend to take time to think. I was ridiculed for such an offering. Having no time to think themselves - the others in the room thought it a humourus thing to suggest. They have no idea of the impact that night has had on my life.

I've been on vacation for two weeks now and it has been a wonderful winter treat. Got to visit with Adam and Emily and their beautiful children in Louisville, been hunting almost everyday with Jason and yesterday listened to my little one's heartbeat for the first time. Let me say as someone who has no idea what he is in for - it was one of the best moments in my life. There is my wife with our baby growing inside her - cool.

Also (and not nearly as important) I've picked up a new hobby - home brewing. I have 10 gallons of liquid slowing becoming beer in my home right now. I check on them as one might a sleeping infant - they are always quiet and content to release the CO2 and ferment away. Soon I'll post how they taste and if the hobby will continue.

Back to work on Monday - I'm thinking ambulance - it's been almost six weeks. And that's it right now.

I like this about you. Always trying new things! Let me know how the brew turns out. Maybe you could get some to Louisville sometime so I can have a taste.

Congrats on hearing the heartbeat. Soak up every moment. Truly experience every special, new "event" during this time. Like the rest of life, it goes by fast.

More "fatherly" advice for you. Learn to find joy in the midst of trials. Kind of like the old golf saying goes, "the worst day as a dad is better than the best day anywhere else."

Love you both, or all three of you.

i would agree with adam...soak it up and NEVER rush any part of it. the next "event" will always come soon enough but you can never get this moment back. just enjoy what God has blessed you with now at this time. and relax have a _______. you know what i mean...
